7 Wealth Building Principles: Work

Last week I gave an intro to the 7 Wealth Building Principles I am applying to my life. Back in February, I went to a Financial Freedom workshop that was only $10; one of the best investments I have made in 2018. This week, we will talk about the 1st Principle: Work.

For a list of all 7 Principles check out last week’s post.

Given that Work is the first principle, I definitely want to give a shout out to Do Work Media!! They are constantly at work!

Now, the importance of work is that it is one of the commissions God gave Adam, us, to do. Genesis 2:15 “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it.” In the Hebrew language the word “dress” means to work, and “keep” means to protect. What Adam had to work and protect was his domain, what he had dominion over, Eden.

See, when it comes to operating in your work, you are literally doing your purpose that God put in you to do. That means there is a difference between your Job and your Work. Work is tied to your gifts, talents, and abilities; it’s those passion projects you only have time to work on after you come home from your job. Your Job, “just over broke”, is normally going to fund your purpose, work. It is that thing that you have to do to try and make ends meet. Your ultimate goal is to make it to the point where you are operating in your work and not a job.

However, since the majority of post-grads gain income from jobs, that is what we will use for income when discussing the other principles.

For more in-depth information on how you can take these principles and tie them into your current level of finances, contact me and I’ll set up an appointment for you to be on the way to financial freedom!
