“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being priest for me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6 NKJV)
In a nation that we have built from the ground up, why are we, African Americans, as a people, suffering? Simply, we have stopped reverencing God.
The African American Church must do better. Our traditions have overcome the Gospel and the word is of none effect (Mark 7:3). There should be no poverty, sickness, disease, homelessness or any such thing that goes against the word of God, when we serve a God whose promises are yes and A-men (2 Cor 1:20). “Three points and a poem” sermons will not do anymore. Drama in choirs will not do any more. Frankly, anything against the will of God will not do anymore. We must therefore repent and return unto Him.
If we as an African American Church use our tithe/offering money for rent, paying the leader of the church, and other NECESSARY things. Then there should be AMPLE money left over for the work of ministry. For Charleston to have a church on EVERY corner the communities surrounding these churches should never go without. We must help each other, as a people, not only return to God, but to achieve mental, spiritual, physical, and economic prosperity according to 3 John 2.
This is, and will be a process, but through God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).
